Decide Minthara's Fate is a major companion quest in Act Two of Baldur's Gate 3. It begins when the party enters Moonrise Towers and Minthara has survived Act One.
The quest is triggered upon entering Moonrise Towers if Minthara is still alive after the events of Act One. By this point, she has fallen into the hands of the Absolute's cult and is being held inside the tower, where the questioners Jasin and Sumera are torturing her and attempting to erase her mind. The quest therefore places a companion's future directly in the player's hands rather than presenting a conventional exploration objective.
The central decision is whether to intervene before the mind-wiping process is complete. The player can attempt to rescue Minthara and lead her out of the tower, or allow the cultists to continue their work. The rescue does not require a single fixed combat solution: dialogue, persuasion, intimidation, and direct confrontation can all provide ways to deal with the jailers, depending on the party's abilities and chosen approach.
The outcome has lasting consequences for Minthara. A successful rescue and escort outside Moonrise Towers creates the opportunity to recruit the Drow Paladin as a companion, and this opportunity is available on both broadly good and evil playthroughs when the Act One conditions are met. If the mind-wiping process finishes, Minthara becomes a mindless servant of the Absolute and cannot be recruited. The quest should be handled before entering the Gauntlet of Shar, because progressing into that area can lock the mission out.
